Sew Divine!

Posted by Berta On September - 1 - 20083 COMMENTS

Well, I had a FABULOUS Labor Day weekend. I cleaned/veg’d all day Sat. Then we drove to Orem and stayed with Rina and family until about 6pm then drove home. We were quite crafty this weekend. Rina had an idea of making baby booties and onesies. Let me know what you think! I think we may start making more. We’ll see how many more booties we make (in other words lets see how many I’m willing to sew since Rina doesn’t know how to sew yet… :-) ). Anyhow, Rina also cut baby Popo’s hair. He isn’t a baby anymore. I was really sad. I kept tell him I wouldn’t love him anymore once he grew up so he had to stop. heehee. Kids just aren’t that cute once they grow up. That’s why I’m in an infant class. I have babies to love all the time! heehee. j/k. I love all children. They’re just cuter when they’re babies.

Well, I hope you enjoy the pictures of our lovely creations. Let me know if you want us to make you some. We’ll be selling them soon!

LOL @ Carlie…

Carlie Loosle

This is a picture of Jon’s cousin, Carlie Loosle. She is one of my favorite people in the world! She is 20, but has the mind of a child. You can’t tell by this picture, but she is mentally handicapped. Anyhow, earlier this week Jon gave her a ride to our apartment so she could pull some weeds (her Dad owns them). When they got to the aparment he got out of the car with her because he had to show an apartment. Anyhow, when he got out he put his zune (MP3 player) on his seat. Well, when he got back to his car the Zune was gone. He immediately went to Carlie and asked her for his Zune. She said she didn’t have it. He could see that she had something in both her pockets, but she should only have her cel phone. So he reached in her pocket and sure enough he pulled out his Zune. He asked her why she lied and she said she just wanted to listen to music. He then asked why she didn’t ask for permission and so then she said, “well, can I listen to it?”. Of course Jon was like, “NO!” So, long story short she was mad at him and called him a few bad things. Later on that day she handed the following note to Jon.

Letter from Carlie to Jon

“Dear Jon, I’m really sorry that I took your music thing. I’m sorry that I’d called you fat, all those bad words. Carlie.” When Jon showed me this note I was laughing so hard. She really is one of the funniest people you’ll ever meet. Carlie, if you ever read this I want you to know that I love you very much! It’s a blessing to have you in our family!

I can't get enough...Twilight!
I can’t get enough…Twilight!

Ok. I hate Rina. Just kidding…I don’t. But I am annoyed that she got me to read Twilight. Since I started last Saturday I couldn’t put it down. I’m now on book 3 and I’m totally hooked! I’ve decided I don’t like Jacob and that I LOVE Edward! heehee. I can’t wait to see the movie…not that I think it’ll be anywhere near as good as the books. I’ll let you know which was my favorite when I’m done!

I love my job…

Posted by Berta On August - 4 - 20084 COMMENTS

Here are a few reasons I LOVE my job! I’m 27 now and it has taken me this long to find what I love. I was blessed to get hired on at Central de La Familia. I really didn’t qualify other than I love kids. Anyhow, they decided to take a chance with me. And I will forever be indebted to Jeana and Maritza for hiring me! Anyhow, since I started in May I have gone from being a floater (help everyone…I loved it) to being a teacher in the Infant class with Heidi and Laura. I’m sure others will disagree, but I think we’ve got the best class in school! heehee. Our kids range from 4 months to just over a year. We’re actually getting a 3 month old next week. It’s an awesome job where you get to love and play with babies/toddlers all day. Aside from being a stay at home Mom I really can’t find anything better. So, enjoy the pics of the kids I get to be with every day!

So, Jon and I have been moving for the last couple of days and its been pretty boring. You know, all work and no play…not my idea of fun. To reward our hard work (ok..not really that hard since we’re only moving across the parking lot, but still) I made a treat. It’s called Ooey-Gooey S’more Bars…I got the recipe off my friend Amy’s blog. Oh boy were they delicious! I broke my camera, so I didn’t get a pic of what I made, but here’s a pic & the recipe from Amy’s blog. Please trust me on this one…you’ve GOT to make this! RIGHT NOW!!

Ooey-Gooey S'more Bars
Ooey-Gooey S’more Bars

Ooey-Gooey S’more Bars

1/2 cup butter, melted
2 cups (about 2 sleeves) graham crackers, crushed
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
1 can sweetened condensed milkPreheat oven to 350. Mix together butter and 1 1/2 cups crumbs. Press into bottom of 9×13 pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips, marshmallows, and remaining crumbs over top. Evenly pour milk on top. Bake 15-20 minutes until medium golden brown. Cut away from pan while still hot. COOL COMPLETELY (about 1/2 hour) before serving…or chance burning your tongue off for a lick of goodness!

Thanks for the idea Amy…you ROCK!!
