Mom and Me at the Airport

Today, June 4th, is my Mom’s B-day. I miss her very much. She loved like no other I’ve ever known. I don’t know anyone (personally) that had as much faith as she did. She is and always will be my inspiration. I pray one day I will be  half the woman she was. I love you Mom! I miss you too much. Happy Birthday!

Project 365-Day 1

Posted by Berta On January - 14 - 2009

Ok…so my little sister Rina challenged me to take the project 365 challenge. Which pretty much means I need to take a picture a day and blog about it. It doesn’t have to be long or extravagant just a picture and a post. So…I’m late in the game, as is Rina, but I’m very excited about this. They say it will help not only capture moments in your life, but also help you become a better photographer. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this picture and all 300+ pictures to follow!

Mom's Favorite...Coldstone Creamery's Coffee Ice Cream

Ok…so I chose this specific picture because Coldstone was my Mom’s favorite ice cream shop. And her favorite flavor was coffee ice cream. Since it’s the anniversary of her passing Jon and I went (on this very cold evening in Logan) to Coldstone and bought us some yummy ice cream! He didn’t have the coffee flavor…but I sure did! It was delicious. Enjoy!

Tribute to my Mom…

Today marks the anniversary of my Mom’s death. So I wanted to dedicate this post to her. Mom, I LOVE YOU!!

This is a picture I took of my Mom while she was undergoing treatment for her brain tumor in Maryland. The area her tumor was in caused her to have aphasia which defined is the inability to use or understand language (spoken or written). On this day she had an appointment to meet with her speech therapist to chart her progress. At the previous appointment she was given homework assignments to help with the aphasia. To anyone without aphasia they were very simple worksheets…a child could answer the questions. However, because of the aphasia she had such a hard time answering the questions. What made it worse was that she knew they were easy questions to answer. Anyhow, she had been dragging her feet since the previous appointment because it litterally hurt her head to do her homework. Well, because we had her appointment that day I demanded she do her homework. So, I sat her down on the couch and I put a little table between us (I sat across from her in a chair) and I made her do her work. She complained the entire time. As she did her work I went and got my camera to take a picture. I threatened that if she didn’t smile I was going to keep taking pictures…which she really didn’t like. So amidst her grumbles she gave me the biggest smile I had seen in months. As I remember this moment it makes me laugh because she really was angry I took the picture. She said as I was getting ready to snap the picture, “hurry up” through gritted teeth. That exact moment was priceless. This picture has become my absolute favorite picture of my mother.
